The Bare Bar

The Bare Bar

When clients enter our licensed esthetician’s room, one of the questions she asks them is: ‘’What would you like to work on today?’’ And so begins the list of concerns!

Therefore, we had to offer a cleanser that could address her clients’ most pressing issues: aging and problematic skin.

Acne & Mature Skin

One of the key ingredients in our Bare Bar is salicylic acid (SA), a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) derived naturally from willow bark or wintergreen. When people hear "salicylic acid’’, most of them think of acne due to its antibacterial properties. However, SA is also beneficial for mature or sensitive skin as it helps to lift up dead skin cells. Not only it will unclog pores, but it will also speed up the cell turnover, leaving the skin brighter and more youthful. This is why it’s so important to exfoliate periodically.

Sensitive Skin

Redness and inflammation are common signs of sensitive skin. To understand how the skin gets inflamed, we must take a look at our immune system. Langerhans cells, found in the epidermis, act like air filters that protect your skin by keeping bacterias from entering your body. When they detect invaders, they send a message to the body that responds with an inflammatory or allergic reaction.

Conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis (even fine lines) are all forms of inflammation. Hence the need to add salicylic acid to our Bare Bar, as it is known to reduce inflammation (not surprising it is also found in Aspirin). However, people with sensitive skin can react to salicylic acid. This is why we combined it to Castor Seed Oil (soothes inflammation, clears congestion and reduces toxins) and Safflower Seed Oil (prevents inflammation and boosts the skin immune system).

This solid cleanser has been a long time favorite in our master esthetician room. The go-to for keeping your skin healthy! So healthy, you’ll want to wear your skin bare! You’ll never want to go back to liquid cleansers!
